The SAT essay is unique: most students do not encounter anything similar to it in their class work. They must confront a prompt they have never seen before, think on their feet, and create a compelling argument complete with supporting examples—all within 25 minutes. This is particularly challenging for the majority of students, so over the years, I have devised my own method of teaching students how to successfully approach this essay.
My substantial teaching /tutoring experience makes me an ideal choice for teaching students how to successfully grapple with the SAT essay. I know how to effectively address students' writing problems regardless of the level of their skills. I review and teach what is needed no matter how fundamental, and proceed beyond the nuts and bolts to teach students how to use critical reasoning to drive the essay—an approach which typically results in better writing and higher SAT scores.
